VCGLR releases latest pokies expenditure figures – player loss continues
The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation recently published pokies expenditure figures for December 2015 as well as venue figures for July to December 2015.
The high level Victorian figures are:
- player loss in December 2015 was $221.7 million (a $708,000 or 0.32 per cent increase over December 2014)
- player loss for January–December 2015 (full year) was $2,593 million (an increase of $66 million or 2.6 per cent over 2014)
- player loss for July–December 2015 (first half of financial year) was $1.341 million (an increase of $21 million or 1.6 per cent over the same period in 2014).
The local government areas (LGAs) with the highest losses for July–December 2015 were:
- Brimbank: $75.0 million
- Casey: $64.1 million
- Greater Dandenong: $61.0 million
- Greater Geelong: $57.5 million
- Whittlesea: $57.5 million
- Monash: $57.5 million
- Hume: $54.2 million
- Wyndham: $50.1 million.
All of these LGAs are heading toward player losses of more than $100 million in 2015–2016.
The venues with the highest player losses for July–December 2015 were:
- Epping Plaza Hotel (Whittlesea): $10.962 million
- Gladstone Park Hotel (Hume): $9.562 million
- Keysborough Hotel (Greater Dandenong): $9.458 million
- Kealba Hotel (Brimbank): $9.451 million
- Plough Hotel (Whittlesea): $9.414 million
- Bundoora Taverner (Whittlesea): $8.998 million
- Skyways Taverner (Moonee Valley): $8.952 million
- Highways Sandown (Greater Dandenong): $8.697 million
- Dorset Gardens Hotel (Maroondah): $8.586 million
- Rosstown Hotel (Glen Eira): $8.578 million
- Seaford Taverner (Frankston): $8.335 million
- Taylors Lakes Family Hotel (Brimbank): $8.178 million
- Excelsior Hotel (Whittlesea): $8.174 million.
