New help seeking videos in Chinese, Arabic, and Vietnamese
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation has released new videos in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Arabic to explain the signs of gambling harm and describe what to expect during a consultation with a Gambler’s Help or other professional counsellor.
For anyone experiencing harm from gambling, talking about it and seeking help can be difficult. This can be even more pronounced for members of Victoria's culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, who may not know how or where to get support.
Services are provided through local specialist agencies in Arabic, Chinese and Vietnamese and interpreters can be arranged in other languages.
The videos are titled 'Anyone can have an issue with gambling' and are great resources both for people seeking help for themselves, and also for their friends and families to watch and share. The video format overcomes varying levels of literacy as they use narration in-language.
We are promoting the new video resources to the end of June 2018 on radio, in selected press, online and community publications.
The videos are available from the Foundation’s YouTube channel.
