Australian Racing Fact Book 2021–2022 edition published
Racing Australia recently published the latest edition of the Australian Racing Fact Book. A Guide to the Racing Industry in Australia 2021–2022 outlines the key results and statistics from the Australian thoroughbred sector. The Fact Book includes wagering turnover on thoroughbred racing.

Australia
- Thoroughbred wagering turnover in Australia was $29.144 billion (an increase of $1.910 billion or 7 per cent from 2020–2021). More than 65 per cent of this amount was derived from bets with Northern Territory bookmakers.
Victoria
- Thoroughbred wagering turnover in Victoria via the TAB was $2.852 billion (an increase of $20 million or less than 1 per cent from 2020–2021).
Turnover is the expression used to describe the amount wagered. It is all the money bet before any winnings are paid out or losses incurred.
