Commission refuses application for 40 pokies at Royal Hotel in Koo Wee Rup
On 30-31 March 2021, the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation heard an application by KWR Hotels Pty Ltd to install 40 pokies at the Royal Hotel in Koo Wee Rup.
The Shire of Cardinia opposed the application and appeared at the hearing.
On 30 April 2021, the commission refused the application.
After considering the material before it, the commission was not satisfied that the social and economic impact of the application would not be detrimental to the wellbeing of the Shire of Cardinia community. Accordingly, the 'no net detriment' test was not met and the application was refused.
