The program

The Grants for Clinical Research on Gambling Program is a research program that funds clinically focused gambling research projects in Victoria.

The program was launched in September 2013, and has so far funded five projects with a total value of $600,000.

The program encourages researchers from a variety of disciplines to undertake independent, investigator-initiated research.

The program also encourages young researchers to enter the gambling field through the allocation of funding to early career researcher grants.

Development and evaluation of an online gambling self-help program: effective integration into existing Victorian services

This project is developing, trialling and evaluating an online self-help program for people with gambling problems. The project is a joint initiative of researchers at Deakin University, Turning Point, Statewide Gambling Therapy Service and the Australian National University.

Gambling problems and recovery processes in young people

This early career researcher project is investigating the gambling careers of young people, including motivators and barriers to gambling and recovery. The study is also exploring the individual, familial, social and environmental factors that influence the experience and success of recovery in young people.

Effectiveness of e-therapy in the treatment of problem gambling

This early career researcher project is exploring the use of e-therapy in the treatment of problem gambling. The project is evaluating the effectiveness of using web based tools in delivering ongoing treatment and follow up. 

Supporting problem gamblers to seek help and recover: guidelines for the public

This project is developing first aid guidelines for the public to use in supporting members of the public who are experiencing gambling related harm. These guidelines will be a valuable resource for gambling service providers, community educators and the public.

Investigating youth gambling in rural and regional contexts
