Peer review process

Conducting peer reviews is an essential part of publishing high-quality research.

The Foundation's research reports are subject to a rigorous process of review, involving the following stages:

  • Independent peer review by a minimum of two researchers with content and/or methodological expertise. Peer reviewers provide feedback on the quality, structure, style and content of the report, highlight strengths and weaknesses and provide their recommendation about publishing the report.
  • Reviews returned to authors for response where appropriate
  • Final internal review for overall report quality

Where research reports have been through a process of independent peer review, this is stated in the covering pages of the report.

A few people are gathered around a laptop, engaged in work within an indoor office space. They are focused on the screen, using the keyboard and touchpad. Various office supplies and equipment are visible on the desk.
